About Global Mind Screen

Global Mind Screen Group Pty Ltd ("GMS") is a world leader in mental health assessment. GMS helps you help your patients and more efficiently manage your practice. GMS delivers significantly improved mental health outcomes through what is a paradigm shift in the way mental health is assessed. In short, the Mind Screen is all about EARLY INTERVENTION and BETTER PATIENT OUTCOMES.

The Mind Screen is not a diagnostic tool. Rather it is an assessment or outcome tool and therefore like other outcome tools such as the K10 for depression, or the Edinburgh Scale for PND, the Mind Screen is used by the practitioner on the basis that the practitioner further questions the patient to determine the final diagnosis before completing a mental health treatment plan.

Despite being an assessment tool, GMS is currently undertaking a Harvard Medical School study to compare the Mind Screen with the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV (SCID), a clinical psychiatric research tool used by psychiatrists. GMS is undertaking the study with a view to the Mind Screen becoming the worlds first validated comprehensive clinical psychiatric assessment tool for primary care practice. The Harvard Study is expected to be completed this year, but in the meantime mental health pactitioners nationwide are using the Mind Screen because they understand that mental health can never be truly 'scientifically validated', and quite simply it is the only comprehensive outcome tool available in primary care.

The Mind Screen software was developed in 2002 in response to the worldwide mental health crisis and the need for significantly improved approaches to diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients. Following an 18 month pilot starting in April 2008, Mind Screen v3.1 went live in November 2009 with a huge amount of new practitioner-requested functionality.

The Australian version of the Mind Screen is available now to Australian GPs, mental health nurses, psychologists, clinical psychologists and psychiatrists. Starting with Australia, New Zealand and then the US, GMS's mission is to make a difference in mental health globally through early intervention and revolutionising the currently dated primary care approach to mental health assessment.
